Long'ish Bio
Jason Laz was born and raised in the Capital District of New York, in Troy, just across the Hudson River from Albany. His “day job” is working in communications for a local educational service agency. Jason lives in North Greenbush with his wife, Megan, who works as an elementary school teacher. Jason has worked with media in all forms since the early 2000’s. With a specialty in videography and editing, Jason also does still photography, event production/management, and live sound.
Post high school, Jason completed his Associates Degree from Hudson Valley Community College in Broadcast Communication with a concentration in TV/Video production. After working in local news production as a studio tech, videographer/editor, master control operator and producer, he began studying at SUNY Empire State College for a Bachelors Degree in Broadcast Journalism.
Outside of formal employment, Jason has taken on numerous freelance and volunteer opportunities to further develop his wide skillset. Volunteering with Capital District Youth for Christ, he was involved in the production of the annual high school Excel conference and middle school BreakOut conference for more than a decade, most recently stage managing both events. He has worked on the stage crew for SoulFest in Gilford, NH – the largest Christian music festival in the Northeast and has worked with several local organizations to fill their media needs.
Jason is also a musician – singing and playing acoustic guitar and bass on his church’s worship team, and for a time even leading our first praise band for several years after it began in 2003. He serves on his church’s board and chairs the worship committee, ensuring everything worship-related runs smoothly. On any given Saturday, you can find Jason working in the yard, drinking a good cup of coffee in the morning a new craft beer in the evening.
